When the Caribbean chose its Olympic venue, we built the park
Supply and installation of playground equipment, outdoor fitness and urban furniture for public parks in the Dominican Republic, with KOMPAN equipment.
The Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center in Santo Domingo is the main venue of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games, Santo Domingo 2026 — the oldest multi-sport event on the continent, bringing together more than 6,000 athletes from 37 countries. Being part of a project of this magnitude, alongside the construction company Antillean, has been one of ACL Projects’ proudest moments.
How it started: a park worthy of a historic Games
In 2026, one hundred years after the first edition of these Games, Santo Domingo became the epicentre of regional sport. And an Olympic venue isn’t just stadiums and arenas: it’s also the public space where athletes, families and fans come together between events.
The brief was clear: create a large open-air recreation and fitness area worthy of an international event, able to withstand extremely heavy use and to endure as a legacy for the city long after the spotlights go out.
What we did: play, fitness and furniture in one integrated project
We delivered a multi-disciplinary project with KOMPAN equipment, integrating three lines in a single space:
- Playground: large play structures with slides, climbing nets, swings and elements for different ages, giving athletes’ families and visitors a space of their own.
- Outdoor fitness & calisthenics: a complete open-air training area with calisthenics stations, bars and functional equipment — perfectly suited to an Olympic setting.
- Urban furniture: benches and elements that organise and complete the public space.
All equipment meets the safety standards of IAAPA, of which we are official members.
The way we work
A project of this scale only works with strong coordination. We worked alongside the construction company Antillean, integrating into a larger build with demanding deadlines and international standards. Coordinating play, fitness and furniture in a single space — and hitting the date of a Games that cannot be postponed — is exactly where we added value.
The result
The Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center now has a recreation and fitness area worthy of a century-old event. But the best part of a public project like this is its legacy: when the Games are over, this space will still belong to the people of Santo Domingo — weekend athletes, families and children — for many years to come.
