“Our children love it”: how we revamped the playground of one of Santo Domingo’s leading schools

The American School of Santo Domingo is an international bilingual school founded in 1982, one of the most prestigious in the country. When the time came to revamp its playground, they trusted ACL Projects to get the job done. And the result is best told by the school itself.
How it started: play as an essential part of learning
At the American School, they believe play is an essential part of every young learner’s development — and they take it seriously. So when they decided to revamp their playground, they weren’t simply replacing equipment: they wanted a space that would bring their educational philosophy to life.
The brief was clear. The equipment had to be aesthetically beautiful, low-maintenance and inviting to different age groups. Not an easy combination — but exactly the kind of challenge we enjoy.
What we did: an innovative approach with KOMPAN
Together with the school, we designed an innovative approach that helped bring their philosophy to life. We installed equipment by KOMPAN, a world leader in playground equipment, selected to meet all three conditions at once: beauty, durability and the ability to engage children of different ages.
The result is a space that is not only visually refreshed, but genuinely stimulating for all students. All equipment meets the safety standards of IAAPA, of which we are official members.
