The Sonesta Maho Beach Resort is the largest all-inclusive family resort in Sint Maarten — a ten-acre beachfront property overlooking the famous Maho Bay. With a strong wellness and fitness programme already at its core, the resort wanted to take training beyond the indoor gym and into the open air. That’s where ACL Projects came in.
How it started: wellness that deserved the outdoors
A resort like Maho Beach lives on experience. Guests already had a well-equipped indoor gym and daily fitness classes — but on an island with this climate and these views, keeping every workout indoors felt like a missed opportunity. The idea was simple and powerful: an outdoor fitness area where guests could train with the sea breeze and the Caribbean in front of them.
The challenge, as always on the coast, was durability. Outdoor gym equipment metres from the sea has to resist salt air, sun and constant use without losing its finish or its safety.
